The beautiful garden bar will come alive to the funky sounds of The Strait Shooters as they deliver songs from two Top 20 albums, plus some new material off their new album due for release in 2019.
Could there be a better way to unwind than grab a beer, sit back in the garden bar and let the music sooth your soul? The Shooters are playing from 12.30 - 3.30pm for an afternoon of smooth bluesy tunes, funky vibes, soulful sounds, and bad jokes.
Get on down to the Cardrona Hotel Jan 2nd. Live, love, drink, eat, dance.... not necessarily in that order.

It's back! Fiji Jazz & Blues Festival 2018]]>http://www.thehouseofmusic.co.nz/single-post/2018/05/04/Its-back-Fiji-Jazz-Blues-Festival-2018http://www.thehouseofmusic.co.nz/single-post/2018/05/04/Its-back-Fiji-Jazz-Blues-Festival-2018Fri, 04 May 2018 01:46:10 +0000
The Strait Shooters are thrilled to announce the return of their favourite event. The Fiji International Jazz & Blues Festival is set to make a triumphant return this year. November 8th - 11th.
Thanks to commitment and support from Tourism Fiji, Fiji Airways, and Sofitel, the festival returns to Denarau. If you haven't visited this part of the world for a while you'll blown away by the development to the Port area, and local Hotel amenities.
The Strait Shooters will take to the stage along with top acts and artists from the U.S.A, Australia and New Zealand. Festival Director Billy TK Jnr promises many more exciting artist announcements to follow, along with some great holiday festival packages for you to consider.
For Warwick 'Electrolux' Murray and 'Ramblin' Rick Stringer the Fiji Jazz & Blues Festival holds a special place in the bands history. In fact, it was a chance encounter between Warwick and Rick at the inaugural festival in 2011 that led to the Strait Shooters formation. A NZ Top 20 album and numerous other tours and festivals followed, so a return to where it all began 7 years ago will be a special occasion for the band.
Ramblin' Rick sums it up best: "If you love great Jazz, Blues, Funk and Soul, not to mention palm trees, swimming pools, cocktails, tropical holidays, and the friendliest smiles and service in the South Pacific, why would you be anywhere else from November 8th - 11th? We'll see you there - come join us and shake what ya Mamma gave ya! Bula Vinaka!"

The Thirsty Dog on K-Road will host a double header featuring The Strait Shooters and The Fabulous Murray Brothers.
Friday 29th December from 7pm. Could there be a better way to shake off the Christmas Hangover and warm up for New Years Eve? We doubt it.
Both bands released albums this year. Firstly 'That's All We Have Time For' from The Strait Shooters, followed up by 'Sing it Chap' from The Fabulous Murray Brothers. Rave reviews followed, mainly from their own families, although The Strait Shooters have since notched up sales in 17 countries around the world and have tracks featuring regularly on US Blues radio stations - which all goes to show there's no accounting for taste.
Seriously though, if you're into great blues, funky funk, true rhythm & blues, or just great sounds in general, then get along to The Thirsty Dog, Friday 29th December! 469 Karangahape Road, Newton. We'll hear you there!

It's been a while since The Strait Shooters played Wellington but this Saturday 11th November lookout - the Shooters are back. 10.30pm at The Cross Garden Bar & Hotel.
It's also been a while since the original Strait Shooters line-up took to the stage. The last 2 events for the band in Queenstown and The Bay of Islands saw them expand to include some new members in the rhythm section due to some of the original members being unavailable.
With the original line-up back together this is sure to be a night of high energy and fun as the band deliver their funky originals and covers. If you love good honest bluesy, funky and soulful sounds don't miss The Strait Shooters on their one off night at The Cross.

Bay of Blues at Bay of Islands]]>http://www.thehouseofmusic.co.nz/single-post/2017/08/18/Bay-of-Blues-at-Bay-of-Islandshttp://www.thehouseofmusic.co.nz/single-post/2017/08/18/Bay-of-Blues-at-Bay-of-IslandsThu, 17 Aug 2017 13:36:07 +0000
The Strait Shooters want to thank all the hard working organisers and volunteers who put together an outstanding Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival. With a last minute personnel line-up Warwick's brother Stafford Murray stepped up to the plate on bass. Lucky for the band he'd been listening to their album for the last 3 months and took no time to learn the songs. In fact the partnership between Stafford and Henry 'the funky jandal' on drums turned out to be a stroke of genius, and the band got rave reviews from lots of new fans.
The band are now working hard on their new songs and will be back into the recording studio later this year. Warwick and Rick are busy co-writing some great funky soul tunes and can't wait to deliver the bands next album. Perhaps next years Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival will be the perfect place to launch the album. As you can see from the photo below, it's not a bad place to play some tunes...
Ramblin' Rick on the Ferry to Russell to play the opening gig. See you again soon

The Strait Shooters make their inaugural appearance at The Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival 2017, next weekend August 11, 12, 13.
Warwick 'Electrolux' Murray and Ramblin' Rick Stringer will lead a slightly changed line-up for this festival. As always the talented QT Lee will be with the band to lend her sultry lead and backing vocals.
But with regular players and founding members Aaron 'The Funky Chief' Nonoa (bass) and Mark 'Tom Tom' Thomas (drums) unavailable for this tour, the band are grateful to have the talented Bill Newns on bass, and Henry 'The Funky Jandal' Beatie on drums. Both are from Auckland band Juice on the Loose who are also taking part in this years festival. And they've been busy learning the bands songs from the 'That's All We Have Time For' Top 20 album.
Festival goers can expect to hear the bands originals from their album, and their take on some classics.
Look out Bay of Islands, the band from the Strait are on their way! CD's and the bands retro T-Shirts will be on sale from the merchandise shop at the festival and at the Strait Shooters shows.
